How Long Does Kybella Last?

How long does Kybella Last

Fat under the chin is a common problem. Roughly 47 percent of people find that they have an excess of chin fat. If healthy eating and exercise haven’t helped, or you are simply unhappy with the fat under your chin — Kybella is an excellent alternative to surgical treatment.

What is Kybella?

  • Kybella is a nonsurgical injectable that gets rid of the dreaded double chin
  • Specialized technique targets the fat cells for superior results (82.4 percent of people said they were more
    satisfaction with their appearance)
  • Kybella is the only FDA approved injectable that defeats the pesky fat underneath the chin

How does it work?

  • Deoxycholic acid injections destroy fat cells to prevent accumulation or storage of fat
  • Number of injections or treatments depends on the level of fat under the chin
  • Each treatment takes roughly 15-20 minutes

How long does Kybella last?

One of the most frequently asked questions is: How long does Kybella last? Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule that helps breakdown and absorb dietary fat. What does this mean? Well, once fat cells are broken down and destroyed they can no longer regenerate or reaccumulate. This means once you have reached your desired look, no further Kybella treatment or procedures are necessary!

Your Kybella procedure:

How long Kybella lasts is certain, but everyone’s treatment plan may look a little different depending on their aesthetic goals. Here’s a quick snapshot of what your Kybella appointment and procedure may look like:

  1. Consultation with your Kybella specialist regarding if this procedure is right for you
  2. Discuss medical and cosmetic history
  3. Make aesthetic goals tailored to you
  4. Specialist will mark injection sites with a marker
  5. Topical numbing agent may be applied for comfort
  6. Depending on the treatment plan, 20-50 injections may be administered under the chin
  7. Multiple treatments may be needed for desired results (maximum of 6, one month in between treatments)

Before you begin Kybella

Before you begin, your healthcare specialist will carefully examine the area under your chin to determine what treatment is right for you. It is important to be clear and open with your provider to ensure that you are a correct candidate for Kybella.

Discuss your medical history and any cosmetic procedures you have had in the past or plan to have in the future. Although Kybella is a nonsurgical procedure, it is important to consult your healthcare provider about any concerns or pre-existing conditions that could cause unwanted side effects.

Here are some things to discuss with your doctor:

  • Any trouble swallowing or bleeding issues
  • Any medical conditions near face or neck
  • All surgery on face, neck or chin in the past or planned for the future
  • If you are pregnant, planning to pregnancy in the near future, or are nursing
  • Any medications you are taking — especially blood thinners

Risks and side effects

The most common side effects and symptoms are swelling, pain, bruising, redness, and numbness. Because Kybella is nonsurgical, the recovery process is often minimal. Downtime will vary depending on the treatment plan. Most minor side effects will go away within one or two weeks.

Severe side effects include facial muscle fatigue, trouble swallowing, uneven smile, or nerve injury in the jaw. Any and all post-Kybella treatment discomfort should be discussed with your healthcare provider. If you experience any severe symptoms, contact your healthcare provider as soon as possible.
