How to Improve Skin Complexion

Unlike most beauty trends, glowing skin has always been on the wish list for most of us. Some people are blessed with flawless skin, others aren’t so lucky.

Regardless of what your skin complexion looks like, there are always ways to improve. That’s why we’re here. There are a ton of things that can affect your skin and a ton of ways you can make it healthier.

We decided to list out some of our favorite complexion boosting techniques. From what you eat to what products to use — here are some of the best ways to improve your skin complexion.

Use products with UV protection

The sun is the best, but it can also be the worst. While it gives us those healthy doses of Vitamin D, it also causes skin problems. Not only sun exposure cause wrinkles, but it can damage your skin.

That’s why it’s essential that you use products with UV protection. This means those winter months too! The winter can be a tricky time, but the sun’s rays are just as strong when it’s cold.

We recommend products from Colorescience. They have a bunch of products all packed with UV protected ingredients to keep your skin healthy.

Less dairy

You probably already know this one, but we’re reminding you anyway. While you may love dairy, your skin may not feel the same way. Hormones found in many dairy products stimulate oil glands and can cause acne.

So, we’d recommend straying away from dairy products when trying to perfect your skin complexion. This can include:

  • Milk
  • Protein bars
  • Some salad dressing
  • Shakes
  • Cheese

Obviously that’s barely scratching the surface of all the foods that contain dairy, but be mindful and try to cut as many of these products out of your diet.

Keep your makeup materials clean

Many of us tend to ignore maintaining our makeup brushes or sponges well. These materials can collect bacteria or dirt — causing breakouts.

We would recommend washing your brushes at least every two weeks. If you use foundation, it’s important that those brushes get cleaned even more frequently.

  1. Mix some facial cleanser or shampoo into lukewarm water in a cup
  2. Swish your brushes around thoroughly
  3. Rinse brushes off with more lukewarm water
  4. Pat them or leave them out to air dry

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are extremely simple and with the right clinician, very effective. These peels are FDA approved and as of late —are very popular.

Every now and then there comes a trend so popular that it may seem too good to be true. But chemical peels work for a variety of complexion issues.

  • Aging skin
  • Acne
  • Hyperpigmentation

Face Peels

There are so many different types of masks that it can be hard to choose the right one. To be honest, the right one may be different for everyone.

  1. Charcoal masks do wonders for oily skin — removing debris while improving overall skin textures and help toning your skin.
  2. Cucumber masks with botanical properties are a nice touch from mother nature. The calming properties of cucumber, melon and ginseng make this one of the more comfortable masks out there.
  3. Aloe vera masks are great for those of use that have sensitive skin. Clean and tighten up pores while hydrating at the same time. Oh, and these are also a comfortable mask without too much irritation that often comes from peel-off masks.
